About
Graduated from Cardiff University in 2005 having studied Social Policy and Sociology. Spent two years working in the Welsh Assembly and carried out research into the Welsh Credit Union movement, before completing a Masters at Cardiff University. I then worked for another year at the Welsh Assembly. In 2010I started my PhD at Cardiff University. Focus of the PhD is on the use of time banking (a form of community currency based on time) within health care initiatives. Alongside my exploration of the use of time banking (which started with my Masters dissertation) I am exploring how time banking relates to health in community settings whilst also exploring the theoretical underpinnings of time banking by drawing on the social theory of time.
In addition to this I teach social policy and have taken seminars and lectures at first and second year undergraduate level and Masters level.
I am currently working with a colleague from Bristol University to set up a research network on time banking and have continued to write pieces on asset-based welfare (mainly the child trust fund) and credit unions (in particular the role they can play within social work).
